Perfect weather meant that we could get some great footage of this old lakeboat. There is a large stone on the aft seat, and another midships. An interesting wreck with a story to tell.
Baurisheen Lakeboat Wreck
The wreck is 25ft down, and Baurisheen seems to be a gloomy place, not a lot of light down there.
The wreck of a 19th century lakeboat. This is a very good demonstration that when a vessel sinks it is entirely possible for the wooden contents of the vessel to remain in situ.
It seems to depend upon the circumstances of the sinking, and of course the density of the timber from which the accessories are constructed. Not all wood floats, and most timber sinks when saturated.
